Because of the way reverse osmosis (RO) works, I don't think it can be used for a portable water filter. RO systems need pre- and post-filters with the RO filter in between. Also, the filter system usually comes with a storage tank. If you want to know a good undersink RO filter, there no one better that the 5-stage Multi-Pure MP750 Plus RO (http://www.waterfilters-camping-water-purifier.com/Multi-Pure.html). It's NSF-certified and very effective in reducing a lot of chemicals including arsenic. Also, the reason the pitcher filters very slow is because 1) the pores are very small; 2) your water may be dirty and plugs the holes quickly.
